Description

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began a visit in Canberra, Australia by planting an oak tree at the National Arboretum.

The couple were assisted by six-year-old twins Oliver and Sebastian Lye.

The Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory, Katy Gallagher, welcomed the royal couple.

The tree sanctuary grew out of the ashes of bushfires that burned through pine plantations in the area in 2001 and 2003.

The Royals then met with around 50 Canberrans who had won a ballot to be at the event along with about 150 school children and Scouts who are involved in sustainability projects.
