Description
The award-winning director Jang Jin has gained a strong fan base with his signature style, characterized by a blend of humor, wits and thought-provoking messages. After making his directorial debut at the age of 26, he has contributed to the making of more than 30 films as a director, writer and producer. During the interview, he shared the behind-the-scene stories of some of his most notable works including "Someone Special," "Guns & Talks," "Murder, Take One," and "Good Morning, President."He also noted that he had been inspired to take up writing after reading the poems written by Lee Seong-bok, and that he had paid homage to the celebrated poet through the play-turned-movie, "Welcome to Dongmakgol." He then went on to describe how he had beeninspired by Robert Zemeckis, the world-famous director behind the "Back to the Future" trilogy, while interviewing him during his visit to Korea for the promotion of "Flight" back in 2013. Jang Jin assumed the role of an artistic director for the opening and closing ceremonis of the Incheon Asian Games 2014 and commanded considerable attention at the time. Unfortunately, however, he was heavily criticized for using Hallyu or Korean wave stars as the faces of the opening ceremony, and he shared his thoughts on this issue during the interview as well. Don't miss out on this week's episode of The INNERview to meet Jang Jin, who has led a prolific career as a director and screenwriter, and delve into his world of film and theater.
