"The Help" tops SAGs, J-Lo opens up
Description
Civil rights drama "The Help" won big at the SAG Awards on Sunday (January 29). The film's lead actress, Viola Davis, supporting actress, Octavia Spencer, and its ensemble cast took home top prizes. Silent movie "The Artist" won only one award for best actor in a drama, which went to Jean Dujardin. The best supporting actor prize went to Christopher Plummer in "Beginners." The SAG awards are often a strong indicator of who will take home the Oscars. The Academy Awards take place in Los Angeles on February 26.
Jennifer Lopez said she doesn't know if she'll wed again after splitting with Latin pop singer Marc Anthony last year. The singer and "American Idol" judge told the "Today" show that, "It's not time to think about that yet." Lopez split with Anthony in July after seven years of marriage and two children.
Madonna will be headlining the Super Bowl's halftime act on Sunday (February 5). She will perform her new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin,'" with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. The track releases two days before the event and is from her upcoming album, "MDNA."
Shirley MacLaine will star in "Downton Abbey's" third season. The British period drama follows the lives of an aristocratic family during King George V's reign. MacLaine will play newly created character Martha Levinson, the mother of Lady Grantham. The show has won five primetime Emmys.
Finally, former White Stripes frontman Jack White is releasing a new album, "Blunderbuss," on April 24. The album marks his first solo record release since the White Stripes' breakup last year. His first single from the album dropped on January 30.
