Lately mainstream comic book publishers (Marvel in particular) have been making great strides to include more women, people of color and non-straight characters in their titles. But how many of these new or retconned heroes have depth? How much of their stories have seeped into the popular consciousness? And what can be done to further improve these efforts? We went to New York Comic Con to find out.
