The 'de-evolution' of capitalist media
Description
1996 was the shift- at least that's when i noticed it. Though the purpose of commercial media was the same, The Telecommunications Act of 1996 oversaw mass monopoly, thereby making capitalist primary sources almost indistinguishable. The superficial line between democrat and republican coverage withered away even more under a Clinton and Obama administration, with its thinly veiled jingoism and war hawkishness, to a population massively tired of war. The social media era (of which Obama and Trump administrations oversaw) presented a (yet again thinly veiled) dismay for actual empiricals, demanding loyalty and suspension of skepticism. You saw the rise of the 'echo chamber' in real time. Network and cable television had to match the energy of this chamber in order to maintain ratings they were quickly losing, as they were/are in competition with social media and a growing number of streaming services.
