We pause briefly on the timeline and remain around 1920. Simultaneously with vaudeville/classic blues, we encounter #classiccountry / #Hillbilly . Back to the countryside, then, more specifically: The Appalachians. Violin, banjo, washboard, and folk storytelling.

****************** S T O R Y **************
The mist of Blood-Root Holler hides many secrets, but the darkest belongs to the widow, Maggie. When a bold federal inspector came to shut down her moonshine still, the locals warned him. They spoke in hushed tones of her five previous husbands who had vanished, but he dismissed their superstitions, trusting in the power of his badge.

He found Maggie, a formidable woman with wild hair and a predator's smile. She offered him a jar of her "special batch," and pride made him accept. It was his last act as a free man. Now, as the paralyzing brew takes hold, he feels her strong arms drag him toward a dark cellar his body betraying him. Only then does he finally understand that the law is just paper against the ancient, hungry ways of the mountain.

This song is his final testimony, a ghostly warning sung from the belly of the beast itself. He begs any man who hears it, any other inspector who follows in his footsteps, to turn back. To let the widow be. For the holler has its own justice, and Maggie's hunger is a law that can only be served...deep inside
