Thane Building collapse: What could have gone wrong with construction?

As many as 45 people have died and over 60 others were injured when an under-construction building in Thane collapsed partially last evening. Sources say that many more are feared buried under the debris and rescue operations are still underway. Preliminary reports indicate that the seven-storeyed building was unauthorised and inferior quality materials were used for its construction. Also civic authorities claim that building existed on forest land and was occupied at least up to the fourth floor. Here are some reasons which may be responsible for the building collapse.
