Thai protesters march, after election ruling
Description
Thousands of Thai protesters marched in Bangkok on Saturday (January 25), after a court ruled that the general election may be postponed.
Bangkok is under a 60-day state of emergency, but it has not stopped protesters from trying to force the prime minister to quit.
The Election Commission sought court approval to postpone the polls, saying they may not be successful due to the tension.
Protest leaders have repeatedly rejected the February 2 vote.
(SOUNDBITE) (Thai) PROTEST LEADER SUTHEP THAUGSUBAN SAYING:
"The government has no right to set up any conditions because they are traitors and cheaters. They abused their power, people do not accept them anymore."
The Election Commission must agree with the government on a new polling date for it to be postponed.
But the government is refusing to delay elections.
