Description
Last night I had a vision while in bed.
You were coming out the bingo hall with my mate, Left-Hand Fred.
He took you to the chip shop as brazen as you please
And bought you saveloys and chips and a tub of mushy peas.
And then you went and sat and ate them in the park,
You sat beneath a lamp to see cos elsewhere it was dark.
You ate them from the paper which you thought was rather hip
And every now and then I watched as you fed Fred a chip.
You saved the peas until the end in their tub of polystyrene.
I wondered why Fred sat with you and not his girlfriend, Irene.
And then you put the paper in a close-by paper bin
While Fred sat looking at you with a very knowing grin.
How could Fred, my friend so long, behave so very mean?
I watched him whip his hanky out to wipe your fingers clean.
And then you snuggled up to him, you let him hold you tight.
And in the park you had a lark that lasted half the night.
Oh! Now my heart is broken. You were going to be my bride
But I am sure that Fred and you are at it on the side.
It could have been a nightmare but that vision was so strong.
Please tell me it was foolish. Please tell me I was wrong.
