Teresa Reck - Shimmering Butterfly

I saw a shimmering butterfly
fluttering in the sunlight
her wings a sight of beauty
filling me with such delight

Fragile wings of golden silk
kiss my face and flutter by
delicate grace and beauty
a poise no one would dare deny

Mesmorised I watch her dance
waltzing high up in the sky
flitting playfully petal to petal
a majestic sight to the human eye

I lose sight of her for one moment
and wonder where she chose to land
sighing I get a feeling of sad loss
until I see her sitting on my hand

She seems to sit there watching me
wondering what I am about to do
I raise my hand up to the skies
and let her soar to pastures new
