Telva D. Bolkcom - He's My Dad

Any man can be a father,
but it's different when he's your Dad.
He's with you through thick and think,
the best friend you ever had. He shows you how to do things,
like hit a ball or throw a rope.
He never laughs, first time you try,
or treats you like a dope. Then when you're kinda scared,
and you'd really like to cry,
he seems to know just how you feel,
and only asks--you try. He's gentle when you're hurting,
very hard when you've been bad.
But I've never had a better friend,
than this man I call my DAD.
