Description

This is an Inland Taipan - many say, the world's most venomous snake.

One drop of it's venom can kill 100 men, it's said, and a bite can result in death within 45 minutes.

But a 17-year-old young man in Telerah, just north of Sydney, Australia survived this one's bite.

Reptile rescuer Judy Martin was asked to identify the snake which was found around 1000km from its natural inland habitat.

"We were shocked. We've never seen a Taipan before. They're not from this area and to have somebody bitten by an inland Taipan is quite serious."

The teenager - who checked himself into hospital - is said to be in a critical condition.

But his survival at all is remarkable.

"He needs to take out a lottery ticket. He is extremely lucky to still be alive."
