This is a lesson to be learned.
When a girl says that she's ok,
everything is wrong.
When a girl runs from you,
she's waiting for you to chase her.
When a girl looks into your eyes,
she's wondering if you are thinking 'I love you.' too.

This is a lesson to be learned.
When a girl smiles,
she's trying to hide how much she hurts inside.
When a girl hugs herself,
she's trying to hold herself together.
When a girl blasts her music,
she's trying to drown out the world.

This is a lesson to be learned.
When a girl cries,
she's thinking about how much her life went wrong.
When a girl doodles hearts on her notebook,
she's wishing you felt the same way about her.
When a girl doesn't tell you what's going on,
she's dying to tell you but doesn't want you to worry.
When a girl criticizes herself,
she's waiting for you to disagree.

This is a lesson to be learned.
Learn to be sensitive,
hold her hand,
play with her hair,
because she's going to be there when you don't want her.
Love her while you can,
because you'll want her when she finally stops wanting you
