Taryn Mervis - Child Abandoned

As he stands at the corner
Tears running down his cheek
Looking out into the distance
Searching for something
Only he can see
Something once very dear

Now all alone
In a solitude of darkness
Abandoned by those he loved
Left to fend for himself
In a world where darkness rules
And light finds no way through

How do you tell him
Not to fear
How can one say
Everything is alright
When deep down
They know it isn't
When he, himself knows
He is all alone
Abandoned by those he cared for

Where does one find the courage
To carry on, to not dwell
On a painfull thought
To look at the world
with indifference
When you know you where unwanted

How could they do this to him
How could they cause so much pain
What will become of this child
Who will care for him
Who will comfort him
Who will show him
That love still exists

As more tears fall
Down his devastated face
Realisation finally dawns
He is all alone
left, abandoned on his own
For what reason
He will never know

As helplessness consumes him
His last strengh fails
And he falls to the floor
I think to myself
How can you ever teach him
To love again
When it was love
That abandoned him
To fend the world
On a corner of a street
