Airstrikes in Kobani.
The U.S. led airstrikes are intensifying around the embattled Syrian town with the Pentagon reporting that hundreds of IS militants have been killed in the assaults.
The city has been hit nearly 40 times in 48 hours.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. SPECIAL ENVOY FOR ANTI-ISLAMIC STATE COALITION JOHN ALLEN SAYING:
"We're actually focusing, obviously around Kobani, providing air strikes to provide humanitarian assistance and relief there, obviously, to give some time to the fighters to organize on the ground."
Turkey has a front row seat to the fighting-- but has so far resisted moving in.
