I'm not a perfect girl, you're not a perfect boy
I have already felt love, you have only felt joy.
I can get all worried, but you don't give a damn
I always try to help you, eachtime you push away my hand.
I say I love you, you say you care
I tell you i hurt, you tell me that makes you scared.
I've been burnt in the past, you tell me not to worry
I try get close to you, but you push me away in a hurry.
I tell you I'm afraid, you tell me I'm your world
Yet here I sit alone, when you're with those other girls.
Tonight I lay in bed and cry, you will never know why.
You're hurting me now, though you cannot see
I like who you are, but 'us' you don't want to be.
I tell you I'm confused, you ask about what
I say about boys, you call me a slut.
My eyes tear up, and you say you don't care
I look for your eyes, but you're no longer there.
I don't understand, you say I've done something wrong
I ask about what, you say listen to this song.
I listen to it, what else can I do?
You say I'm in love, but not with you-
-Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
if I should die before I wake,
then my heart my love should take-
So I bid you goodbye, though I see no tears
I did not think it would matter, my death haunted you for years.
One thing I did not hear from you, one thing you did not tell me,
was that you pushed me away so I would fight for you,
but now I'm gone because I didn't know the truth.
So I bid you goodbye, I blow you a kiss,
as you sit there crying, in the rainy mist...
