Tamari Streeter - When I was Young

When I was young.
I could wish for many.
My mind expanded into a land where all could come true.
The world revolved around me and whatever came from a mind.
Everything I wanted to do came true, everything.
I am free there, forever free.
Nothing bad happened, nothing at all.
My friend with me always, I was hugging him tightly, like a scared child.
I wasn’t scared, nothing bad happened, how could I be scared?
My friend’s ears, one gone, and he had a little dirty here and there, brown fur.
He was with me always, and I felt safe, even though nothing tough or bad is going to happen.
I didn’t know how but I cause the wind, the grass, and sunshine in this magical place.
When I was so little, I was so happy.
You don’t know, but time flies, and so does our childhood.
I’m trying, I’m trying.
To let you know how much this means.
As days fade and nights grow.
I, we, grow old.
