Peter Siegfried Krug, born on November 23, 1966, in Salzburg, is an Austrian FIDE Master in Chess Composition, yoga teacher, author, and photographer. His life story is marked by a difficult childhood and the search for ways to heal and express himself through various creative and spiritual disciplines.
Early Life and Strokes of Fate
Krug's childhood was marked by neglect and instability. He spent his early years in homes and foster families. In his youth, he was very withdrawn, rarely spoke, and avoided eye contact. At the age of 12 or 13, a psychologist taught him chess, which served as a means of communication and helped him break free from his troubled past.
Chess Career
Krug found a means of dealing with his traumatic childhood experiences in chess. Although he could not afford a chess club due to lack of money, he played intensively. In 2017, he received the title of FIDE Master in Chess Composition. His primary interest is chess studies, but he has also explored orthodox chess problems, as well as auxiliary and retro mates.
Professional Career
During his early adulthood, Krug earned his living through various jobs, including as a cinema projectionist and night porter in Salzburg hotels. Due to stress and sleep problems, he began practicing yoga.
Yoga and Spirituality
To cope with his inner turmoil, Krug began practicing yoga and completed his yoga teacher training around 2003. Since then, he has been offering yoga courses in Austria and Germany. He shares his experiences with yoga, meditation, and spirituality on the Yoga Vidya Community forum.
