Takiyuddin: Parliament will convene before August 1

As pressure continues to mount upon the Perikatan Nasional administration, de facto Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassan announced that the parliament will reconvene before the emergency period expires on the 1st of August.

Takiyuddin said that more details will be available after the cabinet meeting next week, explaining that the prime minister, as head of parliament, has decided to call for a Parliament sitting as soon as possible, before Aug 1, 2021, adding that this will be finalised during the 7 July Cabinet meeting.

Earlier today, three Pakatan Harapan party leaders issued an ultimatum to the government where if no announcement was made regarding the parliament sitting, MPs will gather at parliament on July 19.
