Taking aim in Syria

Amateur video out of Syria shows rebels seeking cover inside a building in Aleppo as they take aim at Syrian army forces.

As the battle for control of the country rages on there appears to be no end in sight to the conflict.

The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes as the U.N. continues to call on world powers to use their influence to halt more than 17 months of violence that has left tens of thousands dead.

Footage purportedly out of Homs shows a wounded woman and a child being treated in the back of a pick up truck. Others are rushed through the streets to a field hospital.

President Bashar al-Assad is increasingly using air power to check rebel advances, in an uprising that has polarized global powers. With the conflict increasingly becoming a sectarian fight, some fear a spillover into neighboring states.
