Taiwan Weighs One-Year Minimum Jail Term for Draft Dodgers

Taiwan’s government is considering tougher penalties for people who evade mandatory military service, including a proposed minimum prison sentence of one year for draft dodgers. The draft amendment would also increase penalties for those who intentionally delay service until they reach the age limit for conscription at 36.
