Tahrir Square marks revolution anniversary

Egyptians head to Cairo's Tahrir Square on Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of the uprising that toppled former President Hosni Mubarak.
Many here are seeking a new wave of demonstrations - this time in protest at the military rulers' perceived foot-dragging when it comes to handing over power to a civilian government.
One year on since the uprising began, division between Egyptians have emerged over the pace of democratic change.
Many activists plan marches to the Square to demand an immediate handover of power.
But well-organized Islamist parties who dominated parliamentary elections oppose continued protests, and urge patience.
Headed by Field Marshall Tantawi, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces has said it will cede power to an elected president by the end of June.
But pro-democracy activists say a surge in military trials and the repeated use of violence against demonstrators are clear signs of an autocratic system with a striking resemblance to Mubarak's regime.
