Taaruf

Taarof or tarof is a system of social etiquette in Iran in which people use polite language and gestures—such as offering, refusing, or insisting—to show respect, humility, and consideration for others. These exchanges are often ritualized and may not reflect literal intentions, but rather serve to maintain social harmony and mutual dignity.
