T.James Becker - A Son's Lament

Sitting in the hospital waiting room
Atmosphere filled with pain and gloom
Weeping inside those invisible tears
A torrent of emotions mostly of fear

Looking around I see concern in sad eyes
Waiting patiently for the doctors apprise
When he arrives my knees feel weak
Voice has been stolen I can no longer speak

He slowly walks over there’s a buzz in my head
Difficult to focus on the words that he said
Six months to a year and she’ll be gone
It’s inconceivable he has to be wrong

As if by detonation my heart explodes
Thousands of demons on me are bestowed
If prayers are the answer a million are sent
My shouts can be heard a son’s pitiful lament
