Syrian refugees forced into statelessness
2 Views • Feb 04, 2016
Description
In Lebanon one in five people is now a Syrian refugee. The country closed its borders over a year ago, and the government has become more restrictive in issuing residence permits. As a result, hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees have been forced into hiding, unable to travel or work. Their children, who are born to undocumented parents, risk becoming stateless. FRANCE 24's Adam Pletts and Selim El Meddeb report from Lebanon.
A programme prepared by Anna Kowalska, Aline Schmidt and Claire Pryde.
