Description

The Syrian government has been blaming Thursday's bomb attack in Damascus - which killed 25 and injured nearly 50 - on "terrorists."

When pressed for a more specific answer, Jihad Makdissi, the spokesman for the Syrian foreign ministry, said that while there were no details yet on who was responsible for the explosion, authorities felt "the type of attack was from the Salafi method."

"You know suicide bombing is not done by people who rob banks," said Makdissi. "This is very clear that that the trace is for the Salafi mentality."

He offered no further clarification on the subject but said the Syrian interior ministry will release more information later.
