Syrian Defense Forces Withdraw from Palmyra

Despite the ferocity of the battle waged by the Syrian Army against the Islamic State in the city of Palmyra, a source in the Army has confirmed that defense forces have withdrawn from the ancient city under heavy assault from ISIS after helping many people evacuate. Some say that a curfew has been opposed and fear for the safety of those who haven’t been able to leave the city. Fears have also been expressed that Islamic State forces will destroy archaeological treasures at the Palmyra World Heritage Site. Hazem Abdullah reports from Damascus for teleSUR.
