Homs in Syria on Friday shown in video uploaded by activists.

A human rights group says 10 people were killed by shelling here, including four rebel fighters.

The opposition reports the violence also claimed another 17 lives in Anadan, Hama and Douma. Rebels fighters have been battling government forces using tanks.

Reuters has been unable to independently verify these videos, post to a social media website.

However, the reports sparked outrage from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday.

He sharply criticized the Syrian government, and demanded it keep its pledge to halt all military operations.

President Bashar al-Asaad has agreed to a U.N.-backed peace plan that calls for a troop withdrawal by April 10, and a ceasefire by April 12.

Until then, Syrians persist in protesting.
