Susan LeGree - Young Admirer

He was tall and slim
with a lovely face
He said he was from Iran;
I'd not then heard of such a place

A few years younger than I
though I was still in my prime
For reasons known only to him
His eyes followed all the time

He worked in the building next to mine
and daily crossed my path
He asked if I could love him;
I am too old, I laughed

He fairly beamed his beautiful smile
whenever I was near
I hardly knew how to respond
to this young Cavalier

Time and my admirer moved on
as time and admirers will do
Truly too old now, I thought of him
this day, when admirers are so few
