Sultry shadows and light at Calvin Klein

STORY: Nights in black satin, days in white silk. Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa dreamed up an erotic collection for Spring 2013, which he showed on Thursday (September 13), the last day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) in New York.

Costa, known for his tailoring and minimalism, played with conical bustiers popping the bustiers over or under spare-cut dresses - or he let them peek out from under lean jackets.

His mostly ebony and ivory collection included corsets, pencil skirts and cropped pants.

Costa, the creative director of Calvin Klein Women, told Reuters Television about the thinking behind his collection for Spring 2013.

"It's very sultry, it's very exotic, it's very feminine and very luxurious. So that sums up a palette of really blacks and beautiful tan colors in a very feminine silhouette."

Mesh and lace amped up the femme fatale feeling. Embroidery was subtle.

The shoulder was the new erogenous zone, framed by strapless dresses with architectural details.

MBFW ended on Thursday (September 13) in New York, after more than 100 designers showed their Spring 2013 collections at Lincoln Center and other locations throughout the city.
