Sugar Bear - Rocking in my bed

Shh, keep it down they say
Mama’s tryin to sleep
Daddy has a headache
Keep it down so they can think

I wake up gasping
Hearing bumping on the floor
I hear things breaking
I hear banging on the door

I walk out to see
What is going on?
Mommy is bleeding
Daddy’s holding her by the arms

Go back to bed the say
Close your door and close your eyes
Pretend you don’t hear a thing
Please don’t cry

I run back to my room now
And shut my door
Still hearing crashing sounds
And I cruel upon the floor

I cover my ears
And I try to sing
Try to forget I’m here
Try to forget everything

I keep praying out loud
Mamas screaming “No”
Daddy says “put that bat down”
I hear them break a window

My sisters are crying
Here beside myself
We’re all praying
For them to not hurt themselves

I’m rocking back and forth
Hearing still their screams
Daddy dashes in my door
Mommy with a knife stabbing things

Daddy’s moving his head
Dodging from the blade
I can’t stay in my bed
Cause they’re driving me insane

I grab the phone
I call the police
Tell them what’s wrong
All about Mommy and Daddy

They fight till they come
And they break them apart
Each time they take one
To strain them from another start

Till this day I can remember
When I was a little kid
Praying for a forgiver
Praying for both of them to live

So at night I still listen
I can still hear the sounds in my head
Even though those days are dissent
I’m still here rocking in my bed
