Sue Oxley - Ghost Unaware
9 Views • Jun 13, 2014
Description
The second that he died.
As his voice sang echoes round my head
I saw through his eyes
The state of my life.
Every day he nagged me
About washing, dusting, food,
His disgusts so basic
It was hard to believe
That this simplicity pinned him to me.
His ghost never sang to me
Or asked about my day
Or worried about my feelings
Or listened to my dreams
No change there then, no change.
He didn't mention the terror
That was happening in my house.
He didn't give a clue
To open my closed eyes
To the destruction of our lives
It makes me think
That death gave him no more awareness
Than life gave me, as I danced unseeing in the daisy fields,
While all around me
Filthy madness raged on.
