Lockdown has done little to curb the illicit wildlife trade. While there's been a notable drop in the number of animals poached in the Kruger National Park, a trend that's been picked up is animals being poached for food. The environmental affairs minister is expected to release the latest figures soon. In the meantime, just over R960 million has been allocated to SanParks for conservation, as tourism revenue’s stopped coming in due to the lockdown.
