Artist Kim Joo-hyun's solo exhibition "Study on Spiral" was recently held at the Gallery Simon. This exhibition displays Kim's LED installation pieces, models and drawings made with the geometric principles in the space. Though she applied complicated mathematical rules to her pieces, they still look beautiful with all the flashing lights. The piece "n-fold Torus" with many LED lights reminds us of the galaxy, while the piece "Extra Dimension" perfectly shows the interesting structures of the spirals. The piece "Artist's Room" captures the process of the artist creating her artworks as well as her agonies. Kim created a new artistic genre with the intimate combination of art and mathematics. With her groundbreaking attempts, she tells the audience that the meticulous structures of the spirals could be our lives.
