Stuart Kaler - Shimmer

Sitting back from the breakers, I see

the light from a soon-to-be setting sun dance

across the surface of the water, illuminating

the shapes, shadows and silhouettes

of the many people – and their dogs – who have come to the beach....

to witness the remarkable – a blue so bright it stings the eyes...

A gentle breeze occasionally rises...and sand stirs to sting the skin
just now....

Through the shimmer of shapes....some walking, some jogging, some standing....

I see the one that catches my eye....

She cartwheels now... now runs to pet an excited dog....

She raises her hands up....and with head back, talks to no one in particular....to God....but does not know to call Him by name.......merely to thank the day...for being so blue, so bright, so beautiful.
