Strong wind continues within dry weather

Several weather factors have contributed to the forest fire in Gangwon-do.

The wind has weakened since this morning,... and as of 6 PM Korea Time the wind alerts have all been lifted.
However, over the East Coast region of Gangwon-do Province, where the devastating fires occurred,... authorities are on high alert as strong northwesterly winds of 7 to 12 meters per second are still expected.
Also, a dry weather advisory is still in place across the nation, while the alert has been upgraded to a warning over the east coast.
These are the two factors that have contributed to the magnitude of the recent fire, so extra precautions are needed at this hour to avoid further damage.
Fortunately, rain is in store for the weekend.
But it won't relieve the dry conditions completely as the amount of precipitation is expected to be less than 5 mm.
