The number of stroke cases among people aged 20 to 64 has surged by 25 percent in the last 20 years, according to a new report published by British medical journal The Lancet. Strokes are sudden and have an immediate effect. They occur when the brain's vital supply of oxygen and nutrients is cut off, often by a clot, fat or air bubble. VIDEOGRAPHIC
