Stone Roses reunite
Description
Rumours have been around for years, and after a 15-year hiatus Manchester boys The Stone Roses say they're back together.
The big announcement came at a news conference in London on Tuesday with all four band members reunited once more.
SOUNDBITE: Reni, drummer, saying (English):
''I'll be happy if it goes on for 12 months, we're not teenagers, I am going to be at least 36 when this thing starts.''
SOUNDBITE: Mani, bassist, saying (English):
''It's basically a suck it and see thing game, if we're enjoying it and the music is coming and it's credible then why stop doing it?''
SOUNDBITE: Ian Brown, lead singer, saying (English):
''We'll ride it 'til the wheels fall off, like we did last time. And they did fall off, didn't they?''
Stone Roses formed back in 1983. Their debut is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time.
However while fans can look forward to some stage action next year the band remained cautious when talking about recording new material.
SOUNDBITE: Ian Brown, lead singer, saying (English):
''We don't know that.''
SOUNDBITE: Reni, drummer, saying (English):
''We don't know really new music is, God knows...''
SOUNDBITE: Ian Brown, lead singer, saying (English):
''We keep writing and if it hits our standards we'll go, we're not here to destroy anything, it's as precious to us and what it is to someone who has followed us for years, you know a few people have said you shouldn't do it you will destroy the legacy, that's not our intention.''
Stone Roses split back in 1996 after a reported fallout between some members. Most have since pursued other projects.
Tuesday's news has been warmly received by critics, fans and colleagues alike, with many eager to fetch tickets for the reunion gigs in Manchester which will go on sale this Friday.
