Stephen Warren Williams - Fly My Kite

the ground
the sky
the wire
the trees
where it all ends
depends on the breeze
held on a string
fragile and thin
how hard it is tugged
depends on the wind

I stand on the ground
desire the sky
study the wind
needing to fly
seeing the trees
aware of the wire
fate left to wind
not love for this flyer

off now and go
damn the wire and trees
no strings attached
no fight left
for the breeze
