I have tasted the bitterness of wounded pride
And felt the sorrows of an unwed bride
I have laid my hand upon a battered cheek
And waited for a healing touch to peak
I have swollowed the storms of a deadly wrath
Reliving the horrors of a destructive path
I have surrendered control to knotted up fists
And succumbed to the desire to cease to exist
