STATE PREPARING BAIL APPLICATION FOR MURDER

The Public Defenders' Department is now preparing several applications for bail for people accused of murder.

That's despite the State objecting to granting bail to people charged with murder.

The Chief Public Defender told a Joint Select Committee, Friday that the Department is independent.

And, there's no conflict of interest in the matter.
