Description

Squatters occupying a house thought to be owned by Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the second son of the Libyan dictator, have said the £10 million property "belongs to the Libyan people".

The group, calling themselves "Topple the Tyrants" entered the house in Hampstead Garden Suburb in north London on Wednesday, and vowed to remain in place until the property's assets are returned to the Libyan people.

The ten squatters said the house was managed by the Gaddafi family through a holding company registered in the British Virgin Islands, as they took to the roof to unfurl Libyan flags and banners in front of the media.

One had a picture of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's face crossed out and bore the slogan "Out of Libya, Out of London", while another had the word "#solidarity" written on it, in a reference to Twitter.

A notice stuck to a window by the front door read: "Take note that we live in this property, it is our home and we intend to stay here."
