Austin’s civic, political and neighborhood organizations have been meeting since March, 2011, to develop an agreed upon plan for geographic representation on the Austin City Council and a non-partisan redistricting plan. These groups and individuals, agreed on a simple 10-1 plan: ten single member districts with the mayor being elected at-large, combined with a non-partisan independent citizen’s redistricting commission, as the way to go.
