Description

Speed skating is ice-skating’s oldest sport. As far back as the 17th century races were held on frozen canals in the Netherlands. The rink is oval-shaped for Olympic events. Individual races are contested in pairs and are against the clock. In the team pursuit, skaters race in groups of three.
