Spaniards angry over bank bailout
Description
Indignation in Spain's capital over news of a bank bailout.
Protests the night before gave way to frustration Sunday morning after euro zone ministers agreed to lend the country 100 billion euros.
(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) MADRID RESIDENT JOSE LUIS, SAYING:
"It is a disaster. Politicians are a disaster, the country is a disaster. It is a disaster. We are cheated everywhere and neither work nor honesty is worth anything. Do you want me to go on? Because for me it all looks black."
The loan, which is intended to shore up Spanish banks after a real estate market crash, left some residents wondering whether they would get relief.
(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) MADRID RESIDENT ARTURO BRAVO, SAYING:
"If the problem is Spain and its citizens and not the banks, why is all that money given to the banks? I just can't understand it."
Spain is the fourth country to seek help out of Europe's debt crisis.
The EU and IMF have committed around 500 billion euros to finance bailouts for Greece, Ireland, Portugal and now Spain.
