Description

Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Spain's prime minister, has called for early general elections.

Analysts say it is aimed at giving his socialist party successor a better chance against the conservative front runner.

The country joins its Euro counterparts in dealing with a faltering economy and while its unemployment has dropped slightly, one in five citizens are still without a job.

People are now resorting to extraordinary measures to find work. Highly skilled people are playing down their qualifications to avoid being overqualified for jobs.

Al Jazeera's Laurence Lee reports.
