Description
Results from yesterday's elections in Spain resulted in major changes in the political map, with the two-party system in place in recent decades seriously undermined. The left-wing anti-austerity Podemos party was the main winner, with both the ruling right-wing Popular Party and the social democratic Spanish Socialist Workers Party losing ground. Podemos will now participate in city governments in Barcelona and possibly Madrid that are pledged to tax banks, audit debt, stop privatizations, and control electricity and transportation rates. Post-electoral alliances could lead to a left victory in major cities across the country. teleSUR
