Description

Conservative protesters in South Korea held an anti-North Korea rally on Thursday (November 22) to mark the second anniversary of North Korea's shelling of the border island of Yeonpyeong.

About 7,000 protesters, including war veterans in military uniform, gathered in front of Seoul Central Station for the rally.

They burned North Korea's national flag and placards of North Korea's late leader Kim Jong-il and South Korea's former president Roh Moo-hyun holding hands. They also chanted anti-North slogans and sang an army song.

At the end of the rally, the protesters launched 600 balloons in memory of those killed during the attack.

The North's shelling of Yeonpyeong island in November 2010 killed four people, including two civilians, and was the first attack on civilians since the end of the 1950-53 Korean War.
