Just when I found you again
our re-ignited love was
snuffed by that impalatable virus,
vulgar pirate of our re-awakened future.

While pencilling you in
for fifty Christmases,
the infected bubble
probed our space,
scribbled with the gawdy news.

The air chrystallised.
Everything cracked.
Stillness. Don’t move.

Detritus of the moment’s epiphany
fell snowflaked,
cooling my tears.

A heavy pump rushes
blood around the wound.

The words settled
I settled my words,
We don’t have room
for my unraveling.

Mood change.

Must make time,
a frantic procession to cram
five lost years into a night.

We pretend briefly
that it will all last forever.

I leave you,
the swirl of sweat and steam
from the decadent dance
all around us,
unsure of when we next
will see eachother for the final time.
I take some pain with me,
A piece of you to hold.
