Sonja Broderick - Hangover
14 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
Lastnight’s stale wine has
carved a furrow in my brow.
My dreamscapes creaked
with rats, dripping faeces.
Now the day’s air, thick like resentment,
flees my darkened lungs,
bullied by old nicotine.
A continued scream
conducts a march
from ear to thrashing ear
as every task stoops,
crucified by a yen for tomorrow.
Today the shortest stroll groans,
its destination yawning
with belly spasms, angry for sugar.
Each reeking tastebud repels its neighbour,
roofed by a palate fermented to glue.
No idea can ensue
In today’s unliving brain tissue.
